"Developing the Muskoka Bay Club in Gravenhurst has been a wonderful opportunity and you couldn’t ask for a more prominent setting – it’s the gateway to Muskoka," says course architect, Doug Carrick. "Stepping onto this 280 acre site is like taking a walk in the wilderness as nature engulfs you, but in reality you’re less than five minutes from town." Carrick himself won Golf Digest’s award for Best New Course in Canada (2002) with Bigwin Island on nearby Lake of Bays.

The holes at the Muskoka Bay Club wind through mature forests and across majestic wetlands that have been incorporated and preserved in the layout.

While there are forced carries over valleys and wetlands off the tee on several of the holes, Carrick has also elevated the tee decks to give golfers extraordinary fairway views and eliminate blind shots. “The course has been laid out to make those carries on the tee shots rather than the second shots, which from the playability stand point is easier for the average golfer,” Carrick says, noting all of the par-5s have been designed to be reachable in two – except for possibly No. 14, which measures out at 593 yards off the back tee deck.

As a semi-private golf facility, the Muskoka Bay Club has been designed to accommodate golfers of all playing abilities. The Muskoka Bay Club will also feature a luxurious year-round clubhouse and an exceptional practice facility.
